Food Service: Superintendent's MessageDear Mayfield Parent/Guardian,
As the Superintendent, I am here to help all of our students and parents. Over the past several years of working with the lunch program, I've noticed that parents/guardians of some children who may be eligible to receive free or reduced lunches did not send back forms in order to participate in this program. I want all children to be able to get a healthy meal and I want all parents/guardians to be able to provide this for them. The Free & Reduced Lunch Program can help to make sure this happens.
I understand some parts on the form may be confusing, so we are here to help. I would like to offer our assistance to any parent/guardian in completing the necessary form for the lunch program. We are offering our direct assistance confidentially. We will be available to meet individually with parents/guardians at school or in your home. Please call us at 661-8208 to schedule an appointment for help completing the form or with any questions.
In addition to providing students with healthy meals, completing the Free & Reduced Lunch Program form also assists the district in providing helpful programs to our students such as reading teachers for the Elementary School, summer school programs, and the Super CatchÂUp program. The federal funds help to reduce taxpayers' expenses, while also getting the best programs and services for our children. These funds are dependent on parents completing the forms. If your family is eligible to receive free or reduced priced lunches, your child does not have to participate if he/she does not want to. However, a completed application would still assist the district in continuing to offer these helpful federally funded programs.
Please fill out the application (PDF) and return it to me at the below address before September 30th. Please note that the information on the forms is kept confidential. If you have any questions while in the process of completing the application, please do not hesitate to call us at 661-8208 for assistance. I care about all our students and their families and hope that together we can ensure all kids get the healthy meals they need in order to learn.
