More than 20 community members filled out questionnaires during a
meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 15, as they volunteered to be considered as a
member of a special 15 member Mayfield Community Advisory Committee.
Mayfield Superintendent Paul G. Williamsen explained to 23 community
members the role of committee members during the upcoming merger study.
The Mayfield and Northville school districts are waiting for the
approval of a state grant to conduct the merger feasibility study.
The purpose of the study is to explore the possibility of merging
districts or sharing services.
Mr. Williamsen said the district doesn’t know the financial (or any
other) details of what a merged district might look like. He said the
ultimate goal is to find out what will be in the best interest of the
students.
Members of the committee will be announced at the March 15 Mayfield Board of Education meeting.
The board’s objective is to create a committee made up of a representative cross-section of Mayfield residents (e.g., pre-school children parents, retired seniors, business persons, support staff, secondary students, etc.).
If you would like to be considered to be a volunteer, there is still time. Please go to the Mayfield website for details.
