Most people only see first responders – police, paramedics and firemen – during an emergency on the side of the road or at their homes. There’s never really an opportunity for most of us to just sit and talk with them – until now.
Beginning with lunches on Friday, October 4, first responders in the Mayfield community will be able to enjoy a free meal with students and staff. The program will be held on the first Friday of each month at both schools.
“It takes a special kind of person to care for others when they don’t have to,” Superintendent Christopher Harper wrote to the first responders. “All of you rise to the call of duty every time you walk through the doors at work. I can’t even imagine what runs through your mind when you are answering a call , but what I do know is that all of you do not get enough credit.”
The serving times will be as follows:
- ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: 10:40 am – 12:30 pm
- HIGH SCHOOL: 10:55 am – 12:45 pm
“Our students will be there to give you a wave or say thank you for your service,” Harper wrote, “because without you the world would be a much different place. Thank you.”
