Mayfield schools will be closed next Thursday and Friday, March 19 and 20 as staff prepares ways to deliver instruction in the event of a school closing.
While there are no local cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), Mayfield staff will meet over two days next week to discuss e-learning and how the district would educate students in the case of a school closing. Friday was already a planned Superintendent’s Conference Day.
Through e-learning, both teachers and students would use technology to continue the education process while schools are closed.
“While we continue to monitor this situation very closely, we must take steps to ensure we are prepared in the event of a school closure. Guidance continues to come from both the State and Federal level, and many questions remain unanswered, but I feel it is necessary so we can adequately prepare for what may inevitably be a closure of the school for a designated (or even undetermined) period of time,” said Superintendent Christopher Harper.
Coronavirus is a rapidly evolving situation. The most up-to-date information about the effects of coronavirus on Mayfield schools and the district’s regularly scheduled activities will be posted on the district website.
