On May 20, Mayfield Central School District voters approved the district’s $23,327,617 budget proposal for the 2025-26 school year, approved bus purchases, capital reserve modification, and elected one board of education member.
“We are grateful for the support of our community,” said Superintendent Christopher Clapper. “This budget allows us to continue to support our current programming while expanding educational opportunities for our students.”
The budget proposition for the 2025-26 school year passed 201 to 69. The budget has a strong focus on expanding opportunities for students both in and outside of the classroom — from literacy initiatives and career-readiness programs to enriching field trips and guest speakers.
Voters also elected David “Tank” Jones to a five-year term on the Board of Education. He will begin serving his term July 1.
The ballot also asked residents to vote on two other propositions. The first, which allows the district to purchase two 66-passenger buses and one SUV passenger vehicle in an amount not to exceed $425,000 and to be paid from the Bus Purchase Reserve Fund, passed 202 to 67. The second, which allows the modification of the Capital Reserve, increasing the total allowable deposits from $3 million to $8 million, passed 200 to 70.
