On May 19, Mayfield Central School District voters approved the district’s $23,945,751 budget proposal for the 2026-27 school year, approved bus purchases, approved grounds and facilities equipment purchases, and elected one board of education member.
“We are thankful to be a part of a community that continually shows their support for our school,” said Superintendent Christopher Clapper. “Student success remains our top priority, and this budget allows us to provide valuable education experiences to help every student grow and thrive.”
The budget proposition for the 2026-27 school year passed 198 to 60.
The budget expands programs and services while strengthening student supports and increasing hands-on learning. Highlights include expansion of both the agriculture and special education programs, increasing student engagement incentives, new ELA curriculum and library updates, and new band uniforms and equipment.
Voters also elected Alison Martin to a five-year term on the Board of Education. She will begin serving her term July 1.
The ballot also asked residents to vote on two other propositions. The first, which allows the district to purchase two 66-passenger buses in an amount not to exceed $406,000 and to be paid from the Bus Purchase Reserve, passed 198 to 60. The second, which allows the district to purchase a tractor and related equipment, and the construction of a storage unit to house this equipment, in an amount not to exceed $110,000 and to be paid from the Capital Reserve, passed 206 to 49.
