Letter from Superintendent Harper: Mayfield full of heroes

Superintendent Harper shared the following letter with the Mayfield school community on June 1:

To Our School Community,

As we honored the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country this past Memorial Day weekend, I had some time to think and reflect on our circumstances while visiting Old Forge, NY this weekend.  Today, I would like to express my gratitude to you and our students  and to remind you all of the sacrifices that we have already made.

Despite the obstacles that we all face, the servicemen and women who gave their lives while serving our country should not be forgotten.  Let us take inspiration from their lives to become better students, teachers, leaders and citizens as a nation.

I also want to wish all of our faculty and staff, as we approach the last four weeks of school, a good ending to the school year. You all have worked extremely hard!  It gives me great honor to serve as your Superintendent of Schools. And I want to wish our graduating seniors best wishes as we begin our commencement exercises on June 26th.

We have made it, but we’ve done it together. Not one single person has led this charge. We have all joined hands from our elected officials, our board of education, our faculty and staff, to our community business members, our parents and most importantly, our students.

I am proud of all of you!!

Sincerely,

Christopher M. Harper

Superintendent of Schools
