Many capital projects on tap to be completed this summer

As part of Mayfield’s $15.5 million 2016 capital improvement project, the remaining items are to be completed this summer. About $10.5 million worth of work from the project has already been accomplished. Here is the list for this summer:

At the Jr./Sr. High School: renovations to the art, Family and Consumer Sciences, Project Lead the Way and Distance Learning classrooms, as well as the weight room; upgrades to the auditorium, including new lighting, stage, video capabilities and energy-efficient fixtures; creation of a secure vestibule and relocation of the main office, guidance and library; addition of a secure vestibule for entering the District Office; installation of a pass-key system/fob access to two entry doors; upgrade of the security, fire and emergency alarms and public address system; field improvements including drainage, playing surfaces, fencing, backstops and scoreboards; and enhanced handicapped accessible parking.

At the Elementary School: upgrades to the main office with creation of a secure vestibule; additional security features including a pass-key system; upgrade of the public address and notification systems; replacement of the original building doors and hardware; upgrade of the corridor floor; renovation of the north and south wing boys and girls bathrooms and small classroom bathrooms; and replacement of roll-up shades.
