Superintendent updates MCSD community on lifting of mask mandate

The following was emailed to Mayfield CSD families via ParentSquare on Feb. 27:

Dear Mayfield families,

This afternoon, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the statewide mask requirement in schools will be lifted on Wednesday, March 2. This means that starting Wednesday, students, school staff and visitors will no longer be required to wear face coverings or masks in any of our school buildings or on school buses. Of course, for those who wish to do so, mask wearing will continue to be optional.

As we have throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to work with Fulton County health officials as health and safety protocols evolve. If additional changes to these protocols are made, we will be sure to communicate those to you.

I sincerely thank you for your commitment to the health and safety of our students and staff, as well as your cooperation as we have been navigating through this pandemic over the past two years.

If we receive additional guidance from the state about this in the coming days, we will be sure to communicate it as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or your child’s building principal.

Sincerely,
Christopher M. Harper
Superintendent of Schools
