Job Description:

The Mayfield Central School District, located near the Great Sacandaga Lake, and approximately 40 miles northwest of the Capital District, is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) probationary Technology Teacher beginning the 2024-2025 school year. The Mayfield Central School District Mission is to ensure all students will acquire the academic and social skills to enable them to function successfully as productive citizens.

Job responsibilities:

  • Develops and administers technology education curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives; develops technology units to be delivered in the classroom.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and utilizes appropriate equipment for subject area; translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of technical skills to everyday existence; guides students in the selection of projects or experiments.
  • Collaborates with STEAM teachers on interdisciplinary lessons
  • Incorporates NYS Computer Science, Digital Fluency and Technology Education standards into units and lessons.
  • Innovative mindset for incorporating technology, digital fabrication (3D Printers, Laser Cutters, CNC routers) and mechanical fabrication into technology courses.
  • Creates a positive classroom culture by focusing on students’ social emotional well-being.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field, attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or engaging in professional learning.
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues.

Certifications/Experience/Qualifications:

  • NYS Technology Certification required.
  • Successful prior teaching experience preferred.
