Elementary School raises $17K for Kids Heart Challenge

This year, Mayfield Elementary School raised $17,252 as part of the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge.

It was Mayfield Elementary School’s 13th year taking part in the event, which teaches students how physical fitness can benefit their hearts, as well as showing them that raising money for a great cause and volunteering can be a fun and positive experience for the whole community.

Over the past twelve years, Mayfield Elementary has raised $176,083. This year’s amount brings the 13-year total to $193,335.

On Friday, March 4, students in all grades came down to the gym during their physical education classes and took part in eight different stations. Some of the stations included jump roping, face painting, a photo booth, tightrope walk and inflatable games.

As an added bonus, students had the opportunity to win additional raffle prizes. The items and their winners were:

  • Amazon Echo — won by Aydin Beck in Ms. Bennett’s 6th grade class
  • Wireless earbuds — won by Adelynn Tabor in Mrs. Swart’s second-grade class
  • Bluetooth waterproof speaker — won by Kolbe Zimmerman in Mrs. Jordan’s kindergarten class.
