If the student has passed the Regents Exam, but failed the course for the year:
- Students will need to sign up for the virtual Summer School program via HFM BOCES to earn course credit.
- Summer School will run from July 11th – August 11th, Monday through Thursday. Each course will require 1 hour of virtual attendance per summer school day.
- Students will be contacted by their School Counselor to register for Summer School.
If the student has passed the course, but scored between 50-64 on the Regents exam:
- Students who passed the course with a 65 or higher, but scored between a 50 – 64 on the regents exam are eligible for a Special Appeal to earn exam credit for a regents diploma.
- This will allow the district to count the 50-64 exam score to satisfy the exam requirement.
If the student has passed the course, but scored below a 50 on the Regents exam:
- Students who passed with a 65 or higher on the course, but scored below a 50 will need to retake the Regents exam.
- Students can choose to retake the exam in August 2022 at Amsterdam High. School or they may wait until January 2023 to take the exam at Mayfield High School.
- Students will be eligible for the 50-64 special appeal on their subsequent Regents exam attempts if their score falls within that range.
If the student has failed both the course and the Regents exam:
- If the student scored below a 50 on the Regents exam and scored below a 65 in their course, the student will not earn either the course credit or the Regents exam credit.
- To earn course credit the student will be required to attend the HFM Virtual Summer School or retake the course in the 2022-2023 school year.
- To earn Regents exam credit, the student can sign up for the exam in August 2022 at Amsterdam High School or they may wait until January 2023 to take the exam at Mayfield High School.
- If a student earns course credit they will be eligible for the 50-64 special appeal on their subsequent Regents exam attempts.
If the student would like to retake a regents exam in order to obtain a higher score:
- Students can sign up to take the exam in August at Amsterdam HS, please contact the Mayfield Guidance department by July 5th, 2022.
