Cloey Dopp made Mayfield history on Dec. 21, when she became only the fifth female student-athlete to score 1,000 points on the basketball court, and she is only a junior. She helped lead the Panthers to a 62-36 victory over OESJ, scoring 19 points in the game.

Cloey went into the game with 995 career points. “This is a historic milestone and one that should definitely be recognized,” said Coach Brian Moore. “Cloey is a special player. She’s been in the gym since first grade. She just works every hour. We’re fortunate she’s a junior.”

The Panthers are now 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. Going into last night’s game, they were ranked twelfth in Class C.

Past high-scoring girls basketball players include Stacie Hime (1985-1990) with 1,455 points; Sydney Sheldon (2014-18) with 1,138 points; Trista Capano (2003-07) with 1,060 points; and Julie Hampton (2012-16) with 1026 points.
