Mask mandate lifted outdoors, still required indoors

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends keeping current state mask requirements inside schools until more children are vaccinated.

Cuomo also announced, consistent with guidance for summer camps, masks are no longer required on school property for outdoor activities.

Effective immediately, Mayfield Central School District is lifting the mask requirement for outdoor activities.  This includes athletic events, physical education, recess, outdoor class activities and end-of-year events and outdoor celebrations including graduation.

During the current extreme heat, schools will continue to provide extended mask breaks in class while students are seated and physically distanced.

MCSD will continue to review any regulations provided by the state and act in accordance with these requirements as needed.
