Hundreds of food items donated to elementary school collection

Sisters sorting through donated itemsThird grader Aurora Horne wanted to help people, so she approached Principal Katria Hitrick about a Thanksgiving food drive at the elementary school.

Aurora created a letter that was sent home to families asking for donations. She also decorated collection boxes for the food.

More than 300 food items were delivered to the food pantry at the Mayfield Presbyterian Church. Aurora and her sister, Isabella, as well as Aurora’s teacher, Ami Clute, and Aurora’s mom helped make the delivery.
